sakura song

_A Floral Symphony

60x60cm | 24″x24″

Lana Venter Original Acrylic Art

Stretched Canvas on a 3,5cm | 1 3/8” Bar (Gallery Profile) Frame.

Sakura is the Japanese word for cherry blossoms. Sakura is synonymous with spring. Winter has barely had its last say when the deep red little buds appear. Before green leaves unfold, these trees spring into a profuse show of delicate flowers. A phenomenon celebrated and appreciated over many centuries in the far East.

While creating this artwork, it was almost as if I could see the soft pink petals and burgundy buds move up and down as though in song – a floral symphony in the wind. New beginnings are filled with hope and vulnerabilities – easily crushed, but so alive!

Lion: insight

_Strength and Vision

60x60cm | 24″x24″

Lana Venter Original Acrylic Art

Stretched Canvas on a 3,5cm | 1 3/8” Bar (Gallery Profile) Frame.

Have you ever looked into the eyes of a lion? A “real” one. Not the kind that is behind a fence with a full stomach. If you have, you will know that it is chilling to say the least! We have “domesticated” these wild beasts by observing them from cars, behind fences and seeing “tamed” ones in circuses. We have lost touch with their awesomeness.

It’s fierce nature and strength makes it the king of the jungle, the apex predator – “top dog” of the animal world so to speak. But there is more to this creature than that. I wanted to show it’s majestic side, that presence of a creature in command. A male lion that has confidence that is backed by the ability to outperform any other competitors.

This lion has the ability to see what we can not, as he stares into the distance beyond our view. He has his eyes locked on something without the slightest appearance of feeling intimidated. His confidence is contagious and draws the viewer in. Luckily his eyes aren’t on us!

into the mystery

_something new

60x60cm | 24″x24″

Stretched Canvas on a 3,5cm | 1 3/8” Bar (Gallery Profile) Frame.

As early morning light start to filter through the forest canopy, there is the promise of something new that is yet to be revealed.

At times in our lives we find ourselves at such an injunction where we do not know what lies ahead, what will the light of day reveal as we pursue the path that lies before us. We find ourselves walking into the Mystery.

white owl

_to see beyond

60x60cm | 24″x24″

Lana Venter Original Acrylic Art

Stretched Canvas on a 3,5cm | 1 3/8” Bar (Gallery Profile) Frame.

To see, but not be seen. That is the ploy of the snowy owl. It looks and sees without being noticed. It is a keen observer. The slightest movement draws it’s attention. A predator so elusive and quiet beyond belief sweeps in for the kill.

Owls are usually creatures of the night, but not so with the white owl. It is very much at home in the light.
